Our Notes
One of the world's best-loved blended Scotch whiskies, the signature square Ballantine's bottle holds a gloriously heather-honey-succulent whisky with clear and distinctive malt character. For years, the main Ballantine's warehouse was guarded by a troop, sometimes up to 70-strong, of geese, who would alert security to any intruders. This "Scotch Watch" was retired in 2012, replaced by a sophisticated CCTV system, and the last members were sent to live their lives out in retirement on Glasgow Green.
From the Distillery
Colour: Light gold.
Nose: Soft, elegant, heather honey aromas with a hint of spice.
Taste: A balance of subtle, sweet flavours like milk chocolate, red apple and vanilla.
Finish: Fresh and floral after-taste that creates a rounded glow.
During prohibition, we believe our bottles were designed to be square so that American salesmen could conceal a bottle or two in their briefcases without them rolling and rattling around should the inspectors come calling.
The distinct, unusual shape of our iconic Finest bottle is still being used today, but you shouldn’t have to hide it in your briefcase anymore!
